Digital Printer 2017 Award Winner!

Our Sales Director Gary Mellish attended this years Digital Printer Awards to collect not 1, not 2, but 3 awards, ‘Marketing Collateral’ & ‘Finishing’ with Hello Magazine. Plus, the overall award which highlights digital printing excellence, the Supreme Award. A massive achievement for us and a great afternoon.

Here is the story behind the award winning magazine we printed for Hello Studio.


“Hello” are a well-established brand agency located in Holcombe, Somerset. They wanted to produce a brochure to highlight their portfolio of work that could be reproduced every six months in line with their marketing strategy.

The brochure needed to be easily updated whilst retaining vibrant colours and exhibiting the fine detail of the designs and so choosing the right paper stock would be critical. In order to ensure the best quality possible we produced a set of digital scatter proofs on three different stocks which we felt would help produce the detail required. This was particularly important as the design called for large format print and flaws could be easily detected.

Once printed the brochures were bound with two different colour threads. Pink on the inside and green on the outside which is quite unique and added an extra element to the finished brochure. The front cover consisted of a large holographic foil to make it instantly recognisable.
“We were looking to create a statement piece to reflect our pride in our studio’s recent body of work, and wanted to work with a printer who would bring a high level of experience yet offer a flexible, creative approach that would influence the design process and help us to find the perfect solution.

“We found this in CPI, they prototyped and tested above and beyond, and Mark offered up ideas and advice that led us somewhere unexpected and ultimately to an outstanding result. We are very experienced in using digital print, and have worked with some of the best digital printers in the country, but, the results achieved on this book have absolutely convinced me that, in the right circumstances — digital out-performs even the highest quality litho — period.”
